Open Baptism
 |
At St. Nicholas we have an Open Baptism Policy. That means, we are
happy to baptize any adult who expresses a desire
to follow Christ. St. Nicholas is one of several Episcopal churches
in the Diocese of Southeast Florida that offers Baptism “with no
strings attached”.
An individual who seeks to be baptized,
or to have a child baptized, is welcome without regard to their church
membership, their faith tradition or other factors. Along with the
offer of baptism, we announced that there will be no classes to
attend, no requirements to fulfill, no preconditions to meet, no
judgments expressed. People can simply come and be baptized.
They would not have to affiliate with our church, or any church. We
encourage them to do so, but we leave the issue of church membership
to their own consciences.

Nehemiah Project
| |
The
Nehemiah Project includes the entire Diocese of Southeast Florida.
Ten specific parishes have entered a covenant relationship to
increase their average attendance at worship services. St.
Nicholas is one of the 10 parishes engaged in a transformational
period of discernment, training and the implementation of a Ministry
Plan. The developing Ministry Plan will be designed to raise
the attendance one level within three years. The goal is to
eventually minister to a parish family of 500 average attendees at
worship services. As the plan is implemented, successful
tasks and characteristics will have transferable capability for use
throughout the diocese.
For more information on
the Nehemiah Project, please contact Donald Coleman at (954)781-3385. |
Home and Hospital
|
|
After
Sunday services each week, a team of two transforms the beautiful
Altar flowers into four or six individual bouquets. The bouquets
are then taken to our homebound parishioners and/or to Episcopal
patients at the North Broward Hospital. Through an arrangement with
the hospital, a list is provided of patients who are able to receive
the flowers. Along with the bouquet of flowers, each patient
receives a Sunday Bulletin and a St. Nicholas Church calling card.
This provides an opportunity for the recipient to request a visit or
call. Additionally, get-well cards are sent to parishioners who are
shut-in and/or ill.
If
you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact Fran
Scott or call the Church Office @954-942-5887 and leave your name,
telephone number and the best time to return your call. |

The
Episcopal Church Women is an organization within the Church which
unites all women through worship, service, study and fellowship. Each
woman of St. Nicholas Church is a member of ECW and is welcome to
participate in any or all of its programs.
Because of its many fundraising efforts, ECW is able to contribute to
various outreach programs, social service agencies, and programs
within our church that provide educational and life-skills instruction.
